Terresa Karaitiana

Tēnā katou katoa

I am the daughter of Ngaruma Karaitiana (known as Ruma), mokopuna of Ruru Karaitiana (often referred to as Daddy Karaitiana). I was born, educated and remain in Papaioea.

Manawatū is the place I stand, the place I belong. It has sheltered myself and my children through many challenges. Now my children are young adults I have time to give back, to this place and to our people.

I connect with my ancestors and am on a journey of learning and living my whakapapa. As an Early Childhood Teacher and natural health practitioner, I wish to see our children thrive, proud in their identity and strong in their culture.

I bring management and governance expertise, but most important to me is to bring heart to the head and the hand. I will represent Ngāti Rangiaranaki with integrity and ensure we are heard and counted.
