Kei ngā karangamaha, nei rā tō koutou pōtiki e mihi nei. He mokopuna ahau nā Rangitāne, e tātai ana ki a Mairehau, ki a Hineaute, ki a Te Rangitepaia. E tū nei au hei māngai mō te whānau Sharland, tēnā tātou katoa.

As a Rangitāne descendant linked to many of his sub-tribes, my family have nominated me to represent Mairehau. Manawatū born and bred, I am aware of our many connections and have a clear understanding of our protocol.

I am a father of three and have been involved in Māori education for the past 25 years. I am fluent in the language and speak for my family.

My intentions are simple, represent Mairehau honestly and confidently. I believe Rangitāne language and protocol, history and treasures need to be maintained and protected for our future generations.

Ngāti Hineaute

“E te lwi, Kia ora.”

I have an interest in iwi/hapu development due to my whānau ties within Rangitāne and specifically Hineaute boundaries. I was raised and still live in Highbury with my wife & children. My Kuia Rawinia Smith, was my inspiration and source of the knowledge and values I hold.

I am about whānau, integrity and protection of what we all hold dear. I am about improving on the legacy our ancestors left us. I am proud to be Rangitāne & therefore I am about serving Rangitāne. I wish to see our children and their children’s children prosper and flourish.

I understand the need to be structured and responsible. I am youthful & have a heart for my iwi. I understand principles of protection, participation & partnership. I acknowledge those who have gone before us and I will do them justice as a Trustee.

Ngāti Rangiaranaki

Terresa Karaitiana
Terresa Karaitiana

Tēnā katou katoa

I am the daughter of Ngaruma Karaitiana (known as Ruma), mokopuna of Ruru Karaitiana (often referred to as Daddy Karaitiana). I was born, educated and remain in Papaioea.

Manawatū is the place I stand, the place I belong. It has sheltered myself and my children through many challenges. Now my children are young adults I have time to give back, to this place and to our people.

I connect with my ancestors and am on a journey of learning and living my whakapapa. As an Early Childhood Teacher and natural health practitioner, I wish to see our children thrive, proud in their identity and strong in their culture.

I bring management and governance expertise, but most important to me is to bring heart to the head and the hand. I will represent Ngāti Rangiaranaki with integrity and ensure we are heard and counted.
